Friends’ Projects at the Library

In 2010-11, Friends of the Point Loma/Hervey Library has supported the branch by:

• Volunteer staffing of the book room

• Cleaning (carpets, power washing steps, tree trimming)

• Underwriting of OASIS programs and music programs

• Supporting Peninsula Singers

• Matching book funds for books, programs and equipment

• Supporting the One Book, One San Diego program

• Supporting the Friends’ Essay Contest

• Sponsoring Conversational Spanish Classes

• Providing  Library Anniversary celebrations and other programs throughout the year

• Supporting summer reading programs for youth

• Providing signage and other improvements in the library

In addition, the support the Point Loma Friends of the Library have given to our own branch, we have also reached out to the Logan Heights Friends of the Library as a “sister library” to assist them as they prepare for the opening of their new facility.

We also have donated money to the New Central Library in Memory of our longtime member, Deni Down.
