Friends of the Point Loma Library have made significant contributions of time, talent, and funds to assist in the services offered by our community branch library.
Friends’ Projects at the Library
In 2008-09, Friends of the Point Loma/Hervey Library has supported the branch by:
Volunteer staffing of the book room
Cleaning (carpets, power washing steps, tree trimming)
Underwriting of OASIS programs and music programs
Supporting Peninsula Singers
Matching book funds for books, programs and equipment
Supporting the One Book, One San Diego program
Recycling used cell phones
Sponsoring Conversational Spanish Classes
Providing Library Anniversary celebrations and other programs throughout the year
Supporting summer reading programs for youth
Providing signage and other improvements in the library
In addition, the support the Point Loma Friends of the Library have given to our own branch, we have also reached out to the Logan Heights Friends of the Library as a “sister library” to assist them as they prepare for the opening of their new facility in the Fall of 2009.
